St. John's Hospital in Kattappana is a multi-specialty hospital and the main high-level hospital, with 450 beds. It features cutting-edge amenities and functions as a tertiary care and referral centre for the entire Idukki and neighboring areas of Tamil Nadu's Theni district. The Vincent de Paul Society and the Franciscan Clarist Sisters of Kattappana, with the assistance of the Brothers in Germany, established the hospital as a temporary dispensary at Kambukkal. Later, it was relocated to a new facility with 18 beds, and the Archbishop of Changanassery, Mar Mathew Kavukatt, lay the foundation stone for the new hospital. The hospital's mission is to provide modern, economical healthcare services to the people based on their requirements.
